March 28, 2009 at 8:30pm join 1,000 cities around the world as they extinguish their lights for 1 hour to send a powerful global message that we care enough about global warming to take action.

Phoenix Systems encourages customers, suppliers and employees to develop "Green" strategies that help to save our planet on a daily basis.
Things that we have done:

Reduce paper usage by printing double sided.
Reduce paper usage by electronically archiving documents instead of printing.
Emailing invoices and other original documents.
Eliminate older printers that consume too much power while in sleep mode.
Setting up virtual offices and working from home to reduce fuel consumption.
Video conferencing to reduce fuel expended during travel to remote locations.
Set back thermostats in all office locations.
Promote recycling of paper and cardboard.

Right To Play

Right To Play is an international humanitarian organization that uses sport and play programs to improve health, build life skills and foster peace for children and communities affected by war, poverty and disease. Right To Play is committed to improving the lives of these children and to strengthening their communities by translating the best practices of sport and play into opportunities to promote development, health and peace.

Working in both the humanitarian and development context, Right To Play trains local community leaders as Coaches to deliver our programs in countries affected by war, poverty and disease across Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

Right To Play is supported by an international team of top athletes from more than 40 countries who generously donate their time to give back through sport. These athletes inspire children, are role models for healthy lifestyle choices and help raise awareness and funding for Right To Play projects. SickKids Foundation is the largest non-governmental granting agency in child health in Canada. Established in 1972, SickKids Foundation has granted over $600 million to The Hospital for Sick Children and over $60 million to researchers across the country.

The Foundation Fighting Blindness

The Foundation Fighting Blindness is a Canadian health charity that was founded in 1974 by a small group of families intent on finding a cure for the disease robbing their children of sight. At that time retinitis pigmentosa, macular generation and other retinal dystrophies were thought to be incurable. Undaunted, these families enlisted the support of Canada's leading medical scientists and set to work collecting money for vision research. From these humble beginnings, The Foundation Fighting Blindness has grown to become Canada's leading private supporter of retina research, having given more than $16 million to groundbreaking eye research taking place at universities and hospitals across the country. The Foundation Fighting Blindness mission is to find the causes, treatments an ultimately the cures for retinitis pigmentosa, maculare degeneration and related retinal diseases by supporting research and public awareness.
